All
of these scientific hypotheses boil down to first there was an planetary mass covered with water and providing the correct conditions for chemical
reactions to create a simple
organic compound from which life was formed.
In the 5 June issue
of the Journal
of the American Chemical Society, a team reports that it has carried out a battery
of common
organic chemistry
reactions using solid
compounds, without first dissolving them in the usual solvents.
Three chemists will share the award for developing chemical
reactions that enable the building
of complex
organic compounds with wide applications in medicine, industry and agriculture
Nucleophilic substitution
reactions play an important role in the formation
of organic compounds.
While other species detected in space are formed by gas - phase chemistry alone, or by a combination
of both gas and solid - phase generation, methanol is a complex
organic compound which is formed solely in the ice phase via surface
reactions on dust grains.
The main objective
of the Institute conducted fundamental research - to obtain new data on the structure and transformations
of organic compounds, their mechanism
of chemical
reactions, the synthesis
of organic compounds, new classes, new opening
reactions, the development
of new catalysts and to investigate the relationship
of their structure to the catalytic activity.
Certain particle
compounds may directly generate ROS in vivo because
of their surface chemistry (eg, metals,
organic compounds, and semiquinones) or after bioactivation by cytochrome P450 systems (eg, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon conversion to quinones).6, 290 a, 290 b A particle surface or anions present on otherwise more inert particles may disrupt iron homeostasis in the lung and thereby also generate ROS via Fenton
reactions.291 Other PM constituents may do so indirectly by the upregulation
of endogenous cellular sources (eg, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate [NADPH]-RRB- oxidase) 292,293 or by perturbing organelle function (eg, mitochondria) by taken - up PM components.261 Particle stimulation
of irritant and afferent ANS fibers may also play a role in local and systemic oxidative stress formation.294 Given the rich antioxidant defenses in the lung fluid, secondarily generated oxidization products
of endogenous molecules (eg, oxidized phospholipids, proteins) or a reduction in endogenous antioxidants per se may be responsible at least in part for the state
of oxidative stress in the lungs (along with instigating the subsequent cellular responses) rather than ROS derived directly from PM and its constituents.
Volatile
organic compounds, referred to as VOCs, are characterized as any
compounds of carbon, excluding carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, carbonic acid, metallic carbides or carbonates, and ammonium carbonate that participate in atmospheric photochemical
reactions.
On the other hand,
reactions of the CH3S (O)(O) O • radical with
organic compounds such as formaldehyde (HCHO) or methane (CH4) are more favorable.
Ozone is an odorless gas that is not directly emitted into the air but is created by chemical
reactions between nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile
organic compounds (VOC)-- which occur naturally but are also produced from the burning
of fossil fuels and are released in the process
of drilling for oil and natural gas.
