labels were dismissed as unwarranted.
Many of these of these
products are also highly toxic
to cats, and despite the
labeling, hundreds of cats are annually treated for toxic
reactions to them.
To reduce the number of
reactions and eliminate misuse of the
products, the EPA is now enforcing tighter restrictions on ingredients and pursuing
labeling changes and guidelines.
Companies can display the NASC seal of approval if they adhere
to a strict code - of - conduct contract that requires on site audits, compliance with
label claims, adverse
reaction reporting, quality control, and random
product testing.

labeled product were
to lead
to an allergic
reaction or other adverse effects, it could put my name or hospital in a lousy position,» Dr. Oppenheimer said.
However, this should not be advertised as a flea - killing method, because if an animal has a
reaction to a
product that is being used off
label, the groomer will have all of the liability.
The study's findings mean that those who have had harmful, allergic
reactions to certain herbal supplements might have legal recourse against the manufacturer, distributor and / or marketer of the
products, assuming it can be proven that the allergic
reaction was caused by the ingestion of a certain ingredient not disclosed on the bottle's
label.
