reading about Indie Lee's journey and being in dire need of a new facial oil, I decided to give Squalene Facial Oil a try and I am really impressed!
Way back in June 2013, after
reading about indie polishes on Reddit and talking to other nail enthusiasts about them, I took the plunge and ordered some of my own.
Createspace — I chose Createspace for my print books after
reading about another indie author who used them.
I like
reading about indie writers and publishers.
It's hard not to when you hear about the latest seven - figure book deal or
read about an indie author hitting the bestseller lists or selling their film rights.
I'd
read about Indie from Smashwords, but I was surprised by Russia.
Barnes & Noble (I just
read about an indie author who had been established at B&N, then he went exclusive to Amazon with KDP Select and was lamenting that, now that he is back with B&N, he's having to re-establish his book rankings), Smashwords, Kobo, Apple and more.

indie authors was the one «as yet unconquered» land for self - published authors everywhere until
about four years ago, when Amazon - owned print - on - demand company CreateSpace built traction and changed the playing field for indies everywhere.
Everything else that I have
read, recently,
about local book signings for
Indie Authors only mention things like «grueling,» or they go on to question the value of such in today's digital marketplace.
She got so much buzz
about her decision to turn down a trad pub contract to go
indie, that everyone wanted to
read or at least look at the book.
These can include, but are not limited to, an author panel featuring traditional, hybrid and self - published authors from the community; presentations from local
indie authors
about writing, marketing and more; book
readings and / or signings from local authors; presentations from local industry leaders; writing workshops and informative presentations and workshops
about tools available to the writing community through the library.

But no big numbers like the news we
read about with Hocking or Konrath or (insert name of recent big
indie seller).
Honestly, it will always sting for a nanosecond when I
read about authors winning awards that I can't begin to hope to win as an
indie, or heading off on book tours, or getting picked to speak at big events, or receiving glowing reviews from notable publications, or hobnobbing with other big name authors.

Indie authors are an important part of the Goodreads community and there are several ways authors can engage with readers on Goodreads for free, including sharing what you are
reading yourself (Maggie Stiefvater, Rick Riordan, and Roxane Gay are three great examples of authors who do this), using our «Ask the Author» feature, and providing additional content
about your books with our Kindle Notes & Highlights on Goodreads feature (see how Emma Chase shared notes on her book, Royally Screwed, which led to some great interactions with her fans — authors should contact our author team if they are interested in doing something like this too).
With so much of the industry divided on the benefits of e-
reading versus the damage it can do to the vital
indie bookstores — and with so many of the players in the industry, including BookPeople, divided on Everyone vs. Amazon — an evolution of this kind seems not only natural, but laudable; it means bookstores can still be the place to turn to for
reading content, selection advice, and the sense of community that comes from people getting together to talk
about a book.
While progress has certainly been made — namely in the fact that more and more readers don't care how the book came
about so long as it's a great
read — there are still a few holdouts where
indie authors don't garner the same respect or privileges that publishers and their authors can find.
With so much talk in recent news
about the poor quality of
indie authors» works and data that shows that only
about 59 % of self - published authors go so far as to pay a professional editor before hitting that publish button, it's easy to forget... [

My thought is that very few who are buying
indie books care
about or
read the NY Times, which is typically understood to be a mouthpiece for whatever spin the NY industries are trying to put on any given topic.
TLDR: An encouraging
read for
indie authors looking to learn
about a wide range of marketing topics: covers, titles, formatting, pricing, publishing to multiple platforms, and more.
Or I
read a report
about how some
indie writers are booming, and then I
read articles
about how everything is flat.
I think educating the public
about what
indie publishing really means and the rise of review blogs that cater to them and carry as much weight as places like Dear Author and Smart Bitches Trashy Books will go a lot further toward informing the public what qualifies as a good
read.

Reading between the lines, this says to me that it's a new author who isn't well informed
about the
indie world and is terrified of new things.
What I've learned (through my own experience and by watching other
indie authors) is that they use being a «hybrid» author (as first coined by Bob Mayer and has a post

read) to their advantage.
