I remember in college, many moons ago, thinking that since I was
so very opinionated about religion, I really should make sure I was familiar with the Bible... So I read it... cover to cover... I can tell you, I honestly didn't enjoy it... it's NOT a great read... bits are interesting, and of course very familiar... I took me almost the whole year, but I got through it... So imagine my surprise some time later when I found myself at an after conference gathering, that just so happened to have an inexplicably number of overtly religious attendants (inexplicable because it was a hi - tech network security conference) and after listening quietly for a while, jumped in with the statement «well, you've all read the bible cover to cover, as have I»..

so much

I would also try not to base my theological
reading of current world history
so narrowly in my own Christian tradition, but would try to draw on the insights of other traditions, as we must all increasingly do

I would say the people that were using the «guide book» wrongly just haven't took the

@jf well your information about the New Testament is about as accurate as your Old Testament knowledge, The prophecies of the Old testament concerning Christ could not have been written after the fact because we now have the Dead Sea Scrolls, with an almost complete Old Testament dated 100 - 200 years before the birth of Christ, Your interpretation of God
at His worst shows a complete lack of understanding as to what was being communicated. We don't know what the original texts of the New Testament were written in as to date there are no original copies available.Greek was the common language of the day. Most of the gospels were reported written somewhere in the 30 year after Christs resurrection
time frame, not the unspecified «long after «you reference and three of the authors knew Jesus personally in His earthly ministry, the other Knew Jesus as his savior and was in the company of many who also knew Jesus. You keep referencing changes, «gazillion «was the word used but you never referenced one change,
so it is assumed we are to take your word for it.What may we ask are your credentials?Try
reading Job your own self, particularly the section were Job says «My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes»
I still kept a round of duties, and would not suffer myself to run into any open vices, and
so got along very well in
time of health and prosperity, but when I was distressed or threatened by sickness, death, or heavy storms of thunder, my religion would not do, and I found there was something wanting, and would begin to repent my going
so much to frolics, but when the distress was over, the devil and my own wicked heart, with the solicitations of my associates, and my fondness for young company, were such strong allurements, I would again give way, and thus I got to be very wild and rude,
at the same
time kept up my rounds of secret prayer and
reading; but God, not willing I should destroy myself, still followed me with his calls, and moved with such power upon my conscience, that I could not satisfy myself with my diversions, and in the midst of my mirth sometimes would have such a sense of my lost and undone condition, that I would wish myself from the company, and after it was over, when I went home, would make many promises that I would attend no more on these frolics, and would beg forgiveness for hours and hours; but when I came to have the temptation again, I would give way: no sooner would I hear the music and drink a glass of wine, but I would find my mind elevated and soon proceed to any sort of merriment or diversion, that I thought was not debauched or openly vicious; but when I returned from my carnal mirth I felt as guilty as ever, and could sometimes not close my eyes for some hours after I had gone to my bed.
I may try to learn before I start classes if I find myself with the
time and drive to do
so, but I know that God can communicate His will to me through His word in the modern day Bible translation I carry on my phone, or
read at home, or pick up from the church pew.
We are
so used to
reading the Bible as a «Holy Book» that we often fail to see how humorous and delightful it can be... even,
at times, scandalous and bawdy.
How many
times, in
reading the liturgy for the Holy Communion, I have felt both exultation and despair
at the moment of the Sanctus: «Therefore with Angels and Archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Thy glorious Name; evermore praising Thee, and saying: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Saboath...» Exalted because, in this language, this place and
time and company of momentary lives are interpreted and blessed within the scope of an eternal action of God, released from the tyranny of death and what Dylan Thomas has
so movingly alluded to when he laments that
I know I find myself
at times so engrossed in
reading the Bible that I sometimes forget the foundation of it all — Jesus.
I hope somebody out there enjoys
reading my thoughts (even if it's just to laugh
at them), but more than that, I hope they make somebody think; yes, I do have far to much
time on my hands tonight, but if I hadn't been writing this, I'd be doing some other writing exercise,
so this was not really a frivolous pursuit.
His other writtings are well worth the

So, sorry folks, I find the story a throuwback to

so much
time and energy (or

so manifest in the 1960s can be traced back to his
time at Columbia University in the 30s, where he discussed oriental scriptures with a Hindu monk, Mahabarata Bramachari, who also urged him to

Your post made me think that perhaps I need to not go on it

Hey Ella, I baked these amazing muffins over the weekend and I'm surprised there are still any left, they're
so nice I wanted to eat them all in one I
read the comments beforehand and to fix the «burnt top / raw inside» issue I squeezed all of the moisture out of the zucchini before adding it to the mix and I also cooked it
at gas mark 4 (180C) for the same amount of
time listed in your recipe.
