Here's an experience I've had
over time that I'm guessing you can relate to: many of the books I've
read that have taught me the most or had the greatest impact on me do not appear on the recommended lists of business luminaries, famous
authors, or Hollywood stars.
Because the
author is outside of the story, she can
read over an event and then go back to the preceding chapters and drop in clues or accentuate the pathos of the characters.
I just
read an example using I Timothy 2:11 - 14 which evidently should be favored
over Romans 16:7 according to the
author of the example I was
reading.
The
author insists on a literal
reading of the biblical accounts that would seem to support his quasi-Unitarian Christology while skipping
over passages that contradict his views.
Maybe the Holy Spirit is at work around the world to bring multiple
authors and pastors and theologians to similar ideas about similar things all at once, and so when I
read something in someone else's book that sounds a lot like something I have written, but they don't give me credit, it is not that they «borrowed» from me, but because both of us were listening to what the Spirit has been whispering to minds all
over the world.
Get
over your hatred of someone and understand the point instead of just
reading the
author and hating the material because of that person.
Since I have
read so heavily from books about non-violence
over the past several years, I noticed many themes and ideas which this
author pulled from other
authors, but this
author rarely cited these other
authors.
Written in informed engagement with current debates
over the possibility of knowledge and truth, this small book will reward careful
reading also by those who may dispute the
author's interpretation of biblical texts.
The writer of any such notes was also aware of himself as
author of words which his successors would
read; in Luther's case these notes have been reprinted and are now pored

The advantages of a preprint journal club
over a journal club reviewing published papers are 1) lab members
read the latest material (often posted within the previous week or two), 2) they feel that reviewing a paper is not an empty exercise (because the paper is already published), but something that actually helps people, 3) they learn about improving manuscripts, and 4)
authors get more feedback.

I've just been
reading a very good page about Military penpals
over at InternationalPenPal.com: Military Pen Pals and I'd like to go
