Funny stuff these religious people... got all the time in the world to
study the Bible, but
too lazy to
read about cosmology or take a science class.
I can't be certain but I'd like to guess a little

studying» outside of the Bible has caused this theory.
But what people need to understand is that I

studied the Bible.
I'm looking to eventually teach theology, but in between my personal
studies, an obsessive
reading habit, and spending far
too much money on coffee, I started a blog called New Ways Forward as an outlet for some of my random thoughts and a way to interact with others who share a passion for theology, Biblical
studies, and social justice.
Reading Christian books has not been one of my strong points (hang over from
too much
study), but in the case of the Atonement of God I couldn't put it down.
We'll watch and
read for hours, but say we're
too busy to
study the Word of God.
Since most people have not
studied the New Testament with their adult minds, and probably have not
read it as a whole for many years, they are only
too ready to accept someone else's disparagement of the Christian position without going to the trouble of examining the relevant documents for themselves.
I've spent far more time than I care to admit combing through complementarian literature,
reading debates about whether women can
read Scripture aloud in church, whether female missionaries should be permitted to give presentations on Sunday evenings, what age groups women should be allowed to teach in Sunday school, whether women can speak in small group Bible
studies, what titles to bestow upon worship leaders and children's ministry coordinators so that they don't appear
too authoritative, and on and on and on.
For all that fretting about how the Millennial generation is
too busy tweeting, texting, blogging and catching up on episodes of Gossip Girl to have time for books, new
studies find that they're actually doing the most
reading in America.
I know, you're
too busy
reading and
studying to show yourself approved and trying to get it right... but, pssst... it's pretty literal about loving your neighbor and being there for them 23/7... (I like to give an hour for using the bathroom and cleaning up...)
I'm all for asking the Holy Spirit to teach us but I think that this
too is abused and used as an excuse not to *
study * the bible as well as
read what scholars and theologians have to teach us about it.
More to the point, that's Moss's life, which
