If you can't afford the upfront cost, know that there are easier (and better) ways to
get copies out into the hands of willing

Sure, you can send out review
copies and make book trailers (not for $ 150 tho), but if an author's end goal is to attract more
readers — or even a publishing contract — they first need to
get their work in front of people who can help them, and that's what the IRDAs are all about.
Although, I think it's possible to find other ways to
get readers, like your advanced
copy deal that you did, I can see how some authors might want to do it this way, and still
get money for it.
When you talk about your book, write descriptions, advertising
copy or
get interviewed about your book, keep in mind that potential
readers are more interested in the outcome they can
get from reading than the contents of your book.
In addition, by self publishing I can give the book the time it needs to find the right
readers and will, eventually, sell enough
copies to recoup my investment and start to
get paid for my work.
I'm not sure whether I would give this many
copies away again, but it was a great way to find early
readers for my book and
get some feedback.

readers and maybe a good copyedit, then launches it on electronic sites and
gets it through a POD publisher such as CreateSpace, which will give you cheap author's
copies in their $ 39 pro program.

copies is not expected just because... it's a tactic for
getting exposure with the understanding that some of these

get more exposure and entree into certain marketing programs and options, and which helps prompt actual purchases as many
readers are hesitant about buying a book by an unknown, unreviewed author.

When you buy an digital
copy to read on your e-book
reader, phone or laptop all you
get is the copyrighted bit, and what you pay for is a licence to have a
copy or
copies of the text.
(Beta
readers are
readers who
get a free
copy of your completed manuscript book in exchange for an honest and thoughtful review before it's released to the public.)
This feature provides a potential
reader a true look at what they will be
getting before they order a
copy of your book.
This usually covers the same points as the
copy editor, but the proof
reader is just making sure nothing
got changed in formatting.
Then, when someone else overhears you talking and asks about your book, go to your car and
get one of the
copies you keep there and either sell it to them with your personal credit card
reader or offer it free in exchange for a review when they are done.
My blog
readers will always
get free (or a deeply discounted)
copy of these books.
I've had a friend and
reader contact me about buying print
copies of Faerie Blood and Bone Walker, and in the process of this, she wanted to specifically know how best to buy books from me to

If I

If you're looking to
get your book into the hands of the greatest number of
readers by selling the most
copies, $ 0.99 is by far the best price point to achieve that goal.
As you'll recall, my two main goals were
getting physical
copies of my book directly into the hands of
readers and keeping my costs down.
Readers have to take a punt on your work, and unless you have a great word - of - mouth campaign going on, you've
got very little chance of being noticed and selling significant
copies.
