When
readers see a page with nothing but five stars these days, they tend to feel skeptical.
Not exact matches
In fact, the average
reader spends fewer than 15 seconds on a
page before clicking away, meaning most would never
see the button, much less engage with it.
If a
reader declines to be tracked, he or she
sees a notice saying the ads will be less relevant and asking to «agree» or go back to the previous
page.
Some
readers who hit the phrase «excitable nipples» on the first
page — and who
see that Bauer has contributed to Salon — will hesitate to read further.
Responding to feedback from one of our younger
readers (
see our March - April letters
page) we continue the theme here, looking more closely at how we are saved by the death and resurrection of Christ, and the place of suffering in the economy of redemption.
Yet more evidence of the counter questioning spirit is the recent proposal in the

I
see that you don't maintain a FB
page, unfortunately, as I'm sure it'd be fun for your
readers to read what would surely be witty and wise updates.
Last week, I used my Facebook
page to get some feedback about the blog from
readers, and many of you expressed a desire to
see more posts on faith and parenting.
On
page 2 you can
see a selection of inspiring testimonials, which I have received from
readers of both our website and book.
I created a poll on the Emily Bites Facebook
Page this week asking my
readers what you'd like to
see more of on the blog and «crock pot recipes» was the runaway winner.
I recently took a poll on my Facebook
page, asking what types of recipes my
readers are interested in
seeing.
What The Times's
readers did not
see was the dramatic Garden panorama on these
pages which Peskin had shot a few moments earlier.
A savvy
reader e-mail pointed out that you can still
see the old version of the website through Google cached
pages (Google takes backup snapshots of websites, which you can
see by clicking the «cached» link that comes up under the site on a Google search).
That's why I felt comfortable mentioning God in these
pages, pissing off more than a few atheist
readers (
see Jaron's World: Raft to the Future), and why I think the advent of binary worship is potentially a healthy thing.

This is often more a concern with critique partners, when we might send one chapter at a time, rather than with a beta
reader who typically
sees 50 +
pages to a full manuscript at once.
For anyone who
sees this, and needs beta
readers avoid folks who want to pay, and submit chapters one at a time, and then interview them, immediately after (it would be best if you did it the second they finished the
page).
Maybe it hasn't been edited, and the
reader gets tired of
seeing fifteen typographical errors on every
page, and having to guess at the meaning the author may have intended.

seen advice about adding lots of front - matter (to encourage
readers to flip through the book) or to write shorter books (a smaller
page count to reach the 10 percent threshold.)
