Educators in content - area classrooms need to implement the same key practices that work
in reading classrooms.
At one of the district's middle schools, the pilot in four 6th
grade reading classrooms includes daily flexible instructional groups based on data, weekly goal setting, and giving students the ability to choose their station activities.

read classroom display posters - feelings, characteristics, appearance, colours, verbs, times of day, months of the year, seasons and days of the week.
Ms. Abich and her team developed
Guided Reading classrooms which resulted in tremendous growth and achievement in English Language Arts for all students.
For example, the Washington state study estimated that students of Board - certified teachers gained the equivalent of nearly one - and - a-half months of additional learning in middle school math classrooms and approximately one - to - two additional weeks of learning in elementary school and in middle
school reading classrooms.
Above is the agenda projected for the day in an upper
elementary reading classroom where students are given an objective — making inferences in this case — and presented with multiple ways to meet that objective.
At the elementary school level, Ysleta is piloting personalized station rotations across Kindergarten through 5th grade
reading classrooms at four elementary schools.
So differentiating instruction so that all students have the opportunity to use multiple brain pathways in
the reading classroom throughout their school years is key to motivating them to read and improve.
But what does flipping look like in an English or
reading classroom?
Yet, poetry (and song) may be some of the most underutilized mediums in
our reading classrooms today.
The special education coordinator wants an aide in
the reading classroom.
In year 2, the pilot expanded to four total elementary schools in 76 K - 5
reading classrooms in and one middle school in 4 6th grade reading classrooms.
In their blended learning pilots, the district is increasing data transparency with students and providing differentiated and timely support in reading through a personalized stations rotation model in K - 5
reading classrooms and increased personalized in 6th grade reading classrooms in order to see improved academic outcomes and an increase in student progress ownership.
In year 1, two elementary schools piloted in nearly 20 classrooms across K - 5
reading classrooms.
It sets the tone that this is
a reading classroom from day one.
