real cream cheese... * sigh * (I am
dairy - free too.)
For
dairy, this paradigm shift heralded a revival of the
real cheese,
cream, butter, and other ingredients once replaced by artificial alternatives.
I have recently gone
dairy free and none of the
cream cheese replacements taste even close to the
real thing.
FYI, you can also use an organic probiotic bill to and put it into the cashew
cream / nut
cream / or nut free hemp (any) seed
cream... to to turn it into yogurt / if you can't buy
real Kefir Bacteria (Lactobacilli bacteria)- Its not
dairy but is used to make milk into Kefir and after its used to turn milks into yogurt, you can strain out the original chunks of bacteria (which is what we do here in Greece and then put the Kefir in the freezer so you can perpetually re-use it — while waiting for yogurt to become
cheese.
This
dairy - free
creamed spinach tastes remarkably like the «
real thing,» but instead of using
cream cheese or milk, this version is tossed in a creamy garlic cashew sauce.
SWEETENERS — Stevia, Stevia Plus, birch tree extracted Xylitol
DAIRY — Organic Butter, Organic Yogurt, (use the following very sparingly)
cream cheese, unsweetened whipping
cream,
real sour
cream.
I followed the recipe exactly, aside from the fact that I used
dairy - free alternatives (earth balance butter (use less), and daiya
cream cheese), as well as a flax egg instead of a
real egg, and they turned out great!
If you find it in your heart to slather these little love muffins with
real full fat
dairy cream cheese frosting, I wouldn't be mad.
