Trumbo «s narrative is well constructed;
the real strength of the film is its screenplay.

the real strength of the film, along with the two powerful central performances, from Peter Simonischek (Oktober November), as Winfried, and Sandra Hüller (Amour fou), as Ines.

film opens on the island
of Themyscira, a paradise island created by the god Zeus and hidden from the

film stays there for a while as we follow Diana from curious little girl to fully trained warrior princess but once Steve Trevor's fighter plane crashes there and Diana realises there is a war being fought in world she does not know
of that is not too far away then we swiftly get brought into London in 1918 and this shift from fantasy into a «
real world» scenario gives the
film a greater sense
of depth, and when combined with characters that you actually care about then Wonder Woman is head and shoulders above all
of the other DCEU movies on the
strength of that alone.
Despite having presumably seen what happened in the aftermath
of Gigli, By The Sea, The Amazing Spider - Man 2, and any number
of other
films made by
real - life couples that broke up shortly after their movie came out, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski apparently have enough confidence in the
strength of their relationship...
Based on the description and on Robinson's track record, my hope is that the
strength of these women will be the highlight
of the
film, and
real attention will be given to the fact that they didn't just exist as Marston's «harem,» but were also in a relationship with each other, and remained together after his death.

This is thanks to both the quality
of the material and its telling; Nagy's script is perfectly pitched, as is Haynes masterful direction, but the
real strength — and joy —
of this
film is found in its two lead performances.
Then, once the final (patented) Shyamalan twist comes out, many
of the
film's
strengths (its lighthearted, easy humor among them) seem out
of sync with the very
real tragedy at the center
of the plot.
