The continued evolution of AUM is a wild card, but otherwise the best hope
for shareholder value / gains is now clearly dependent on a
value -
realising event.
All remaining upside
for shareholders is ultimately based on the actual
value realised from an Old NTR wind - down (rather than current book
values)-- so yes, it takes longer but it maximises
value / upside, and investors will have a pretty minimal cost base / net investment in Old NTR anyway.
Unfortunately, management's obviously neglected
shareholder value to date, but this will change as: i) inevitably, its three major
shareholders (who own 52 %) become increasingly frustrated & seek (new) buyers
for the company, and / or ii) management wises up (self - preservation's as good a reason as any), starts talking up the stock, and gets serious about enhancing &
realising shareholder value (a tender offer is the ideal solution, while a dividend's an obvious first step, as I recently proposed).
However, a cash bid is always hard to beat (especially if the bidder has the fire - power, and the desire, to raise it), and CQB
shareholders may soon
realise even a $ 13.00 cash bid could be far superior to a ChiquitaFyffes share price that could trade anywhere... As
for Fyffes
shareholders, at this point referencing a stand - alone intrinsic
value might be a good idea again: Adjusted EBITA's notched a little higher to 3.8 %, but again operating free cash flow (Op FCF) has only averaged about 55 % of adjusted EBITA in the past few years.
