What bothers me about Turow's obsession with Amazon and his opposition to change is not his blatant disregard for the facts (or the definition of words), it's that he allows this Luddism to become all - consuming, blinding him to the issues that really matter to writers... But there's a bunch of
really awful stuff happening right now that Turow ignores, and has been ignoring, since his term as Authors Guild President began.
I used to be very wary of indies (repeated burns of «is this really bad fanfiction... no no, I mean THAT KIND
the REALLY awful stuff... with the serial numbers rubbed off), then a while back I realized I'd taken to avoiding traditionally published Sci Fi and Fantasy unless it was recommended by someone whose judgement I trusted, so I started looking at Indie again.

Personally, I just can't palate the bitter
stuff, and I'm
really sensitive to caffeine, so it makes me feel
awful to boot.
There is a theory that the Gunners need to be up against it to
really produce our best
stuff, but I think you have to take the
awful luck we have had with injury problems into consideration as well.

really bad rest of it.

stuff up there looks
really awful.
People typically have an
awful lot on their mind, and
stuffing their heads with details of lots of scientific findings is not
really likely to happen or be productive — what is needed is an overall impression of the urgency of the problem and enough evidence being presented to show that his conclusions of importance and immediacy are based on solid scientific information (and the movie demonstrates a lot of this).
