When I talk to my
good friend who is a very conservative Catholic who views taking communion as sacred and every
crumb is representative of Christ's body and not one
crumb will drop... then compare it to how we do it at church... everyone ripping bread from the same loaf,
crumbs everywhere, kids spilling the «wine»... does it
really matter... is one more right than the other... one upholds church law on how communion will be performed versus our laid back version.
I'm gf and I think instead of gf bread
crumbs, almond meal might work
really well.
Hi Dan, its a great substitute I used medium ground for this cake as I wanted a corse grain but you can buy
really fine ground cornmeal which would work
well in a sponge cake for a more delicate
crumb.
I
really like the way the corn flake
crumbs taste with ranch and cheddar
best, but it should work fine with other types of bread
crumbs if that's your preference
I made mine with gluten free bread
crumbs, and baked them, but feel free to use what you like, have on hand, or have the time and energy for — frozen chicken fingers (yup, the is what mom usually did), homemade fried or baked breaded chicken tenderloins,
really even boneless, skinless breasts can be used if you want to keep it lighter, but it doesn't absorb the flavor and help to thicken the sauce quite as
well.
