While squatting is still good for you and can
really help
tone up your
legs, I would avoid squatting heavy (I'm sure most personal trainer's are hating me right now).
To slim down your
legs, you
really need to do cardio (read more here) and I would recommend lighter resistance training to
tone up without getting bigger.
I read your posts about body types and it comes out that I am an ectomorph and a mesomorph and a year ago I have done squats and all the things you say to avoid but I don't
really remember what happened with my
legs but it came out I quit with them and I had
really skinny
legs after that but I didn't felt they were
toned as much as their
legs are.
I bulk up
really easy - even when on calorie deficit, which is fantastic for
toning my arms and core, but a problem for my
legs, as I hate the bulk down there.
My upper body
tones really well, but my
legs are my problem area.
First of all, anything that
really gets your heart rate up and that you can keep consistently is considered cardio so even if you just do a jog for 10 minutes, that is considered cardio:) Getting slim and
toned legs will come from a combination of cardio (walking and running), weights and eating well.
We
really can't blame Heidi Klum for wanting to put her svelte and
toned legs on display wherever and whenever an opportunity arises.
