This session seeks contributions that take advantage
of reanalyses of observations to address various aspects of climate variability and change as outlined above.
This suggestion of an accelerated warming in a deep layer of the ocean has been suggested mostly on the basis of results
from reanalyses of different types (that is, numerical simulations of the ocean and atmosphere that are forced to fit observations in some manner).
«Evaluation and intercomparison of clouds, precipitation, and radiation budgets in recent
reanalyses using satellite - surface observations.»
Satellite and in situ observations provide the information for up - to - date global analyses and
climate reanalyses of the atmosphere, ocean and land surface.
ECMWF as the Entrusted Entity for the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) invites tenders for production of
regional reanalyses covering geographical areas of special interest to European users of climate services.
CHOR: CMCC just released their first historical
ocean reanalyses of the 20th century.
A consolidated estimate of ocean surface fluxes based on multiple
reanalyses also helps understand biases in ENSO predictions and simulations from climate models.
Comparing temporal homogeneity and trends in climate indices and hydrological model outputs calculated from
downscaled reanalyses and gridded observations was useful for diagnosing the reliability of the various historical data sets.
It is the first such period for which satellite observations of key variables including sea - surface temperature and sea - ice cover are available to support globally complete meteorological
reanalyses such as ERA - Interim.
Although there are no permanent weather stations in the Arctic, there is intermittent data from buoys and and from weather
model reanalyses with which they could test their method.

Multiple Reanalyses and Model Simulations.
May 7 - 12, 2012: 4th WCRP International Conference
on Reanalyses Silver Spring, Maryland, USA.
The conference will bring together reanalysis producers, observation providers, numerical modellers and the user community to review current reanalysis activities and to discuss user needs for
future reanalyses.
Significant regional differences in atmospheric
reanalyses performed in the Antarctic Peninsula region
Independent reanalyses of the data by Frederick Mosteller, Alan Krueger, and others helped to verify the study's original conclusions.
So reanalyses were designed to get around that by redoing all the forecasts over again.
The workshop focused upon the progress of S - RIP Report Chapters on the current and
past reanalyses to SPARC.
Closer agreement for precipitation and relative humidity is found between these two
reanalyses over extratropical seas.
To get more model accuracy, scientists often feed the models specialized datasets
called reanalyses that bridge the gaps in measured observations.

reanalyses depiction of ENSO signal in Antarctic precipitation.
School report cards are also a swell resource, as are the user -
friendly reanalyses of those (and other data) by such outfits as GreatSchools and Colorado Succeeds.
In newer and more
sophisticated reanalyses, this effect is not seen (rather the opposite is seen), and that is coherent with direct measurements — at the surface, via satellite and in the upper troposphere.
Trend estimates from the
latest reanalyses agree with those based on station data within the accepted uncertainties of those estimates.
Surface variables such as T (2m) are strongly affected by their environment, which may be represented differently in different weather models (e.g. different spatial resolution implies different altitudes) and therefore is a reason for differences
between reanalyses.
