One thing you will always hear me talk about is the absence of a decent story mode in any of
the recent wrestling games.

wrestled with it not being in the top 10 at all, being the first it clearly shows it's age and has been improved upon, time and time again by more
recent games.
Update 3-5-2014: We've
wrestled with a number of good
recent Vita
games, but only one has made it all the way to the list: The rail - grinding OlliOlli, which bumps off Assassin's Creed: Liberation.
It is not impossible for an F1
game to cover historic seasons as F1 Career Challenge on PS2 officially covered the 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002 seasons within the same
game and Grand Prix Legends on PC successfully recreated the feel of the 1967 season, while a more
recent example in other motorsports would be SBK Generations on PS3 which successfully integrated the 2009 to 2012 FIM Superbike World Championship seasons and even venturing into other sports such as WWE Legends of WrestleMania which successfully showcased a quarter of a century worth of
wrestling action.
These days, a new WWE
game gets popped out annually, with the most
recent release being WWE 2K17, which aims to smoothen out the
wrestling game experience, and bring it ever so slightly closer to replicating the in - ring action found in WWE's programs.
Those
games had perfected the counter and reversal system that separated them from the silly arcade - style
wrestling games, and they haven't been matched since, although the 2K
wrestling games seem to be slowly moving in that direction with the
recent (fully patched) WWE 2K17.
The most
recent Super Fire Pro
Wrestling game is currently on Early Access, and will eventually get a release on the PlayStation 4.
