I borrowed this idea from Dominique Ansel's recipe in Food and Wine and used ingredients I already had on hand from earlier bakes of these Biscotti and Bakewell Mini Tarts — combining the best of both worlds into a very special holiday cookie, indeed!

I forgot to write it in the post but this recipe is also great when making mini ginger snaps or thumbprint cookies.

That said, I did add 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips to the end of the batter before patting into my 13x9 pan without which I think this recipe would have been severely lacking in flavor.
