I
posted these

in my happiness report, but then I thought: Well, I made them (well, mostly my mom did), they were delicious, and everyone deserves to have this

Over the years I got sucked into the food blogger mold of HAVING to
post X amount of times, visiting X amount of other food bloggers,

recipe or else being left with the feeling of being inadequate
in my role as «food blogger».

When I first started this blog
in 2010, I
posted a
recipe for chocolate - chip and double chocolate meringues, with a really ugly
photo, before I learned that you never, ever want to use a flash for food photography.

The holidays have me
in a baking mood so this week I decided to remake an old cookie

in fact), after filling it with ice cream (for the picture I will

in keeping with this week's theme of taking it easy, I'm not giving you a new cake
recipe today — this
post is all about the Cinnamon Buttercream.I did break my own step - by - step
photos rule though.
Another tricky thing I do is
recipe testing
in batches aka do a bunch
in one week and spend the next month editing
photos, writing the
posts and retesting if I'm not 100 % sure about something.
With the actual blog, usually I try and stretch the process of creating the
recipe, photographing it, editing the
photos and writing the
posts out over a few days so it doesn't feel as congested — but sometimes time constraints mean I have to bang it all out
in one day.
The
photos in that
post needed a makeover, and so I decided to go and revamp the whole
recipe, swapping out seitan and doing a
recipe for mango tofu instead.
I actually had this
recipe post ready to go earlier this week, but decided to put it on hold and re-shoot my
photos after attending a Pinch of Yum Tasty Food Photography Workshop
in Minnesota.
