charters.
This is a great opportunity
for the
charter community to support reform in LAUSD by ensuring that the best PSC
applications are
recommended for new and underperforming
schools.
Two other
schools, Cape Fear Preparatory Academy (
New Hanover) and Pine Springs Preparatory Academy (Wake), were
recommended for approval by the
Charter School Advisory Board (CSAB), which is tasked with reviewing
applications and advising the State Board of Education on which are worthy of opening.
The governor - elect's views are wholly in line with a recent report from the University of Baltimore's Schaefer Center
for Public Policy
recommending the state create an independent board to consider and approve
applications to open
new charter schools.
