While North America freezes under
record polar temperatures, the southern hemisphere is experiencing the opposite extreme as heat records are being set in Australia after the hottest year ever.

But when tree rings, pollen counts in
polar ice, and
temperature records from multiple places around the world all point in the same direction, we become increasingly confident that global warming is a reality.
The last decade has been one of the warmest on
record for the
polar region, with 2007 summer
temperatures having risen 9 degrees Fahrenheit above average in some areas.
Reconstructions of past Hothouse climates had shown that
temperatures had been around six degrees higher on average, and higher still in
polar regions, with no
polar ice - caps and a temperate to subtropical fauna and flora, as evidenced by the fossil
record in these areas.
All siding with its infinite growth paradigm, so I'm not surprised to see you writing counter-pieces to the harsh truth, which, as it stands, is that we have a pretty much dead and severely warming ocean, daily
record - breaking jet - stream related weather incidents, which in turn are caused by
polar temperature anomalies of +20 C as of late.
Unusually low
temperatures in the stratosphere, even cold
records, are at fault — creating conditions whereby ice crystals form in so called
polar stratospheric clouds.
The
temperatures in the
polar regions are skyrocketing as are observations of the ominous noctilucent clouds which have emerged at the earliest date on
record this year.
If the
record had been a tropical jungle or sea I'd have considered my hypothesis falsfied but so far every prediction made by it fits what has been observed with the sole exception of the Antarctic interior but that may be due to exceptional characteristics such as the strong
polar vortex, ozone hole, and a
temperature far lower than anywhere else on the planet.
These are all good signs — but, set against the rapid disintegration of
polar ice caps and the
record global
temperatures each of the last three years, they still amount to too little.
Because the GISS analysis combines available sea surface
temperature records with meteorological station measurements, we test alternative choices for the ocean data, showing that global
temperature change is sensitive to estimated
temperature change in
polar regions where observations are limited.
Despite this natural variability - related switch pulling global
temperatures down, NASA shows a globe in which few regions experienced below - average
temperatures and where the highest concentration of
record - warm
temperatures are centered near the northern
polar region.
Santa's elves got fed up freezing their asses off in slavish servitude to the jolly elf, and so they all went out and bought heaters, fired»em up, and started the
polar ice melting,... which scared the crap out of the reindeer — LITERALLY, more crap, which caused more greenhouse gases to enter the atmosphere, which caused more
polar warming, which caused more ice to melt, which caused wind patterns to change, thus, driving the wee cloud - warming fairies out of their warm clouds, creating colder
temperatures, transferred by the changing wind patterns, intercepted by all Northern Hemisphere unicorns that inhaled it and exhaled it about the continent to produce
record cold
temperatures.
After
record - low
temperatures were set through the United States, «
polar vortex» became a household term.

An advantage of compiling
temperature records in this manner is that one could more easily see whether various areas of the globe (northern, southern hemishpere, equatorial or
polar) are warming at different rates which would give further insight into wher the warming anthropogenic.
That happened in January 2014, with the «
polar vortex» plunging most of the eastern U.S. into
record low

As the Earth's surface cools further, cold conditions spread to lower latitudes but
polar surface water and the deep ocean can not become much colder, and thus the benthic foraminifera
record a
temperature change smaller than the global average surface
temperature change [43].
4) If the
temperature of the whole globe is being dragged down by the aerosols direct effect but most of the globe (the majority of the oceans, the
polar regions, the deserts,...) is basically unaffected by this DE, it makes sense to look at the instrumental
record to see the coolness in the affected industrialized regions that would compensate for the lack of aerosols on the rest of the globe.
By Paula Luu, Communications Manager January 24, 2014 While our weather - beaten friends in the Midwest and Northeast braced for near -

The 800 - year lag between the beginnings of
temperature increase and CO2 rise in the
polar ice
record is because the initial warming that provoked the end of the ice ages was caused by changes in the Earth's alignment and orbit around the sun; not anthropogenic CO2.
