Dealing with their seemingly strategic carving up of room

Category 7 hotels are clearly the worst value for money when it comes to cash and point
redemptions (
at a cost of $ 0.02 / point) while the other properties are reasonably similar in cost ($ 0.012 — $ 0.014 / point).

It's these two cases where cash - back cards make sense to
at least have as an option --(1) for people who don't have large everyday bonus
category spend to achieve the
redemption threshold for airline miles and (2) for people with large mileage balances where the marginal value of another point in that program is low.

category hotels can be expensive, but the
redemptions at low - mid tier hotels a = offer a great value.
There are not many
category 1 hotels available and purchasing points would not make sense for most
redemption's
at Hilton Hotels India.
Hilton is guilty of that «teaser» trick, advertising a low
redemption rate of only 5,000 points for a free night (or a $ 1,000 spend), but there are only a handful of hotels in
category 1 or 2, so you need a whooping 20,000 points (or $ 4,000 spend) to be able to redeem
at the cheapest 10 % of their hotels!
But when you dig in a but, you may realize that these are mostly
Category 7 resorts with such high standard
redemption rates it's hard to get a great deal — except maybe if you can find award availability
at very peak times.
