In
regard to climate science, there are a lot of people who deliberately set out to confuse by bringing up irrelevant and inconsequential and wrong information.
I was absolutely convinced of the case for skepticism with
regard to climate science and of the excessive costs of doing much about it even if it were a problem.
What I am talking about is, that it seems to me that with
regard to climate science, this blog spends far too much time responding to the phony, trumped - up «debate» fueled by denialist drivel, and not enough time addressing the legitimate scientific question as to whether it is in fact too late to prevent global warming and climate change that will be catastrophic to human civilization, not to mention the entire Earth's biosphere.
In an email to me on 2013/07/19 TCW said that «I would be fairly safe in saying that the HF group would agree with me» in
regard to climate science.
Can't imagine there being a need to classify any matters in
regard to climate science.
The companies include Chevron Corp., ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips Co., BP, Royal Dutch Shell and Peabody Energy Corp. «The American people deserve answers from the fossil fuel corporations about their actions to massively deceive the public in
regards to climate science,» Lieu and Welch wrote in a letter to their House colleagues asking for their support.

The problems with in - sample data selection and use can not be discussed too often in my estimation and particularly with
regards to climate science where too many scientists evidently have a very large and difficult to understand mental block.
If there is an urgency in getting all the facts on the table with
regards to climate science before deciding / embarking on major policies, in my view, it will have little to do with what is discussed at RC or CA and much more with what our politicians judge is in their best interest vis a vis a marketable approach to their constituents.
(And how could Mann and Schmidt increase their depth in statistcal analysis, if they do not interact with the statistical community, particularly the leading branch with
regards to climate science at climateaudit.org?)
Seven years later, with the release of the IPCC AR5, we find ourselves between the metaphorical rock and a hard place with
regards to climate science and policy:
I do not know where «management» is located in
regards to Climate Science other than to say it's spread around pretty widely with some localized areas of concentration.

«Public opinion

Regarding the specifics of synthetic biology,
Science Daily wrote in a Nov. 5, 2010 press release, «The University of Greenwich's School of Architecture & Construction is poised

to clad buildings and help combat the effects of
climate change.
At risk of going beyond the theme of this thread, I offer up excerpts from it because I think Orr's review speaks indirectly
to the larger issue of how we as humans and as a global society are reacting
to the findings of the earth
sciences regarding anthropogenic global warming,
climate disruption, and their ensuing ecological and socio - economic consequences:
There is no evidence whatsoever that «politics» in any way, shape or form has influenced actual
climate science, or its overwhelming conclusions
regarding both the reality of anthropogenic global warming and the danger that it poses
to humanity and
to life on earth in general.
There is growing recognition that a negative or «chilly» workplace
climate — with
regards to overt or subtle sexism, stereotype threat (Smith et al. 2015), gender bias and discrimination — has affected the success of women faculty in
science (Settles et al. 2006; Clancy et al. 2014).
A proposed law in Tennessee would require
science educators
to «teach the controversies»
regarding evolution and
climate change — even though scientists don't think there is much controversy.
«In the Columbia Basin, the
science and research we have
regarding climate change and
climate effects on salmon, suggests that we desperately need
to find ways
to let salmon access some of the better habitats in the Columbia basin — that is, the cooler water, the welcoming headwaters,» Charles Hudson, intergovernmental affairs director for the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission, told TreeHugger.
Aside from government - ordered muzzling on
climate scientists (as happened
to Hansen and others), there is a «chilling effect» on people's speech
regarding climate science.

Over the past couple of months I've been part of a new podcast, Warm

climate science and its relevance
to society.
I've gotten

Regarding the recent paperback, «Earth Transformed,» by William F. Ruddiman, 2014, and mentioned by by John Mashey earlier in this thread, I've read enough of it
to realize it's a great segue into
climate science thinking.
Mike's work, like that of previous award winners, is diverse, and includes pioneering and highly cited work in time series analysis (an elegant use of Thomson's multitaper spectral analysis approach
to detect spatiotemporal oscillations in the
climate record and methods for smoothing temporal data), decadal climate variability (the term «Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation» or «AMO» was coined by Mike in an interview with Science's Richard Kerr about a paper he had published with Tom Delworth of GFDL showing evidence in both climate model simulations and observational data for a 50 - 70 year oscillation in the climate system; significantly Mike also published work with Kerry Emanuel in 2006 showing that the AMO concept has been overstated as regards its role in 20th century tropical Atlantic SST changes, a finding recently reaffirmed by a study published in Nature), in showing how changes in radiative forcing from volcanoes can affect ENSO, in examining the role of solar variations in explaining the pattern of the Medieval Climate Anomaly and Little Ice Age, the relationship between the climate changes of past centuries and phenomena such as Atlantic tropical cyclones and global sea level, and even a bit of work in atmospheric chemistry (an analysis of beryllium - 7 measure

With a huge assist from the media such as the New York Times which continue
to play the false equivalency card with
regards to climate change and
science as a whole.
The debunkers seem limited
to criticism of
climate science, criticism of
science at - large, and obfuscation
regarding historical / natural / cyclic variability.
Education: The
Climate Science Defense Fund will work
to educate the scientific community about their rights and their responsibilities with
regard to legal issues surrounding their work.
As opposed
to the lies which are happening 24/7/365 as the world keeps spinning on it's axis flooded by the distortions, the gross disinformation and the delusional illogical commentaries by fools and idiots
regarding AGW / CC
science with their wild eyed conspiracy theories that
climate science is a massive deceptive fraud upon the whole world
to bring about a one world totalitarian government by mad leftie environmentalists and hippie anarchists high on mushies.
Rather than focussing on the important but inherently incremental developments in the
science behind the issue, the media would do us all a favor by maintaining a consistent message
regarding the underlying issue (i.e. human action is causing
climate change, and
climate change has the potential
to do great harm
to our way of life) and focus on how ordinary people can take steps in their own lives
to help address the problem in ways that don't require inordinate sacrifice.
Even among the public that accepts the
science of global
climate change, the dire circumstances we now face in this
regard are consistently downplayed, and the logical implications that follow from the scientific analysis of the necessity
to enact swift and aggressive measures
to combat
climate change are not followed through either intellectually or politically.
I hope we don't end - up regretting it too badly but by convincing ourselves that
science must not be self - falsifiable, as is the case with the IPCC's position
regarding scientific research into the causes of
climate change, I'm afraid we are destined
to do a lot of wheel spinning at great costs before we really make much headway in a truly conscious approach
to our world's sustaining systems.
Given that skeptics, taken as a whole, put forward a nearly infinite variety of often conflicting and contradictory beliefs
regarding global warming and
climate science, exactly what is a
climate scientist supposed
to agree with?

Second, I was asked
to write about the
science and issues at the

regard as of the utmost importance.
This means we're putting a man who has written an entire book calling
climate change a hoax, who has used scripture
to refute
climate science, who truly seems
to believe that environmental groups are a «political machine» dedicated
to «misleading the American public
regarding their purely politically partisan agenda under the guise of environmental protection» and who has insisted, with a straight face, that CO2 is not a «real pollutant,» in charge of solving
climate change.
