A number of factors affect the quality of in - school modeling, including lack of resources available in field placements, lack of experience or expertise with
regard to technology integration among field placement teachers, and lack of opportunities for preservice teachers to integrate technology in meaningful ways into the activities they design and implement during their field placements (Niess, 2008; Posner, 1996; Smoot, 2000).
In a study conducted by Kim et al. (2013), a positive correlation was found between teachers» pedagogical beliefs and their technology integration practices: «What teachers say they do was significantly correlated with both their beliefs about effective ways of teaching and their actual practices with
regard to technology integration» (p. 81).

The 2003 White Paper, which led

We also identify additional issues
to consider as the field moves toward a more comprehensive approach
to the preparation of social studies educators in
regard to the effective
integration of
technology into instruction.
Thus, social studies researchers need
to take this prime opportunity
to shed additional light on the work that we do, especially in
regard to the
integration and utilization of emerging
technologies in the areas of social studies and the training of teachers and teacher candidates, through the dissemination of research, theory, and practice in a variety of outlets and contexts (NCSS, 2014).
In order
to answer the second research question and
to better understand the Teachers College policies and goals
regarding expected
technology integration competencies of preservice teachers, I purposefully selected three administrators from the Teachers College based on their areas of administration.
The following issues
regarding dissemination and
integration of
technology in teacher preparation are more specific
to the culture of each content area.
The challenges with
regard to locating field placements that provide opportunities for rich
technology integration experiences for our preservice teachers potentially can be addressed by incorporating more video case modeling activities into our teacher education courses or by developing and sharing additional
technology modeling activities with preservice teachers.
As such, PHMSA — in continued collaboration with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the Federal Railroad Administration — seeks information
regarding the design, development, and potential use of automated transportation systems
to safely transport hazardous materials by surface mode in compliance with the HMR, and
to identify requirements within the HMR which may impede the
