regarding the U.S. House Agriculture Committee hearing on the 2015
Dietary Guidelines for Americans:
Guidance Materials: The Department of Education is required by Statute 18.1003.453 to provide on its website links to information
regarding the nutritional content of foods and beverages and to healthful food choices in accordance with the
dietary guidelines of the United States Department of Agriculture and provide examples of wellness classes that offer nutrition education for teachers and school support staff and encourage school districts to offer classes that are taught by a licensed nutritional professional for the school nutrition department.
Whether any states also would require schools to follow the
Dietary Guidelines for Americans
regarding fat, saturated fat and sodium is unknown.
