The Contemporary Art Society has a history of placing important works by most of the most significant artists of the twentieth century in national and
regional public galleries in the UK for the first time — from Picasso to Hirst — continuing today with recent gifts of works for example, by current Turner Prize nominees Luke Fowler and Elizabeth Price (see «Recent Gifts Currently Showing» below).
Tate Britain plan to host the prize biennially, with
a regional public gallery presenting it in the years in - between.

Our
gallery program was established to enhance the
public's appreciation of the visual arts, provide a venue to exhibit the work of local,
regional, and national artists in a professional space, and provide leadership in the arts by presenting a broad spectrum of arts in all media from both emerging and established artists.
We are a national membership organisation, bringing together individuals, institutions and organisations, including contemporary art enthusiasts and collectors, curators and artists, and a UK - wide network of
public collections in
regional museums and art
galleries.
Each season, AAC's exhibition program features national and
regional artists in our
gallery spaces, as well as related programs such as lectures,
public forums, and workshops designed to involve audiences in the experience.
It was produced by the Bulldog Trust in partnership with The Arts Society and drew on the richness of
regional public collections including The National Jazz Archive; The Higgins Bedford; Leeds Art
Gallery; Town Hall Museum and Art
Gallery, Newark; and Shire Hall
Gallery, Stafford.
By balancing its four primary activities —
gallery exhibitions, studio art classes, educational outreach programs and outdoor art shows — the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia seeks to involve a diverse

For the exhibition, YBCA commissions local,
