2) If something more egregious is going on, as suggested in the quote above, the first thing I want to know is WHO is giving some government entity access to the names of all prescriptions taken by each person on (at the very least) a list
of registered gun owners?
While the NY SAFE Act of 2013 gives gun control advocates and opponents much to celebrate and sulk over respectively, it also serves a bitter pill to supporters of open government,
providing registered gun owners with a mechanism to remain anonymous in the face of freedom of information requests.

RESOLVED, that the NYSACC Western Region County Clerks representing Allegany, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming Counties deny the State of New York State Police permission to use the Name, Seal of the County, letterhead or address for purposes of correspondence with or notices to legal and
registered gun owners regarding permit recertification or for any other purpose associated with the SAFE Act, and be it further.

registered gun owners regarding permit recertification or for any other purpose associated with the SAFE Act,
Lewis County legislators unanimously passed a resolution denying the state the use of the Lewis County name, seal, letterhead and address for the purposes of any correspondence with legal and
registered gun owners regarding permit recertification or for any other purposes associated with the New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act.
We sat down with the Patterson lawmaker and asked him about the governor's proposals and the recent controversy in the lower Hudson Valley where the newspaper The Journal News created an interactive map that listed the addresses of
all registered gun owners in the area.
