After acquiring a permanent space in 2003, the museum began
a regular exhibition program, with shows focusing on subjects like Black Mountain's design and craft legacy and the many important female artists who once studied there, including the sculptor Ruth Asawa and the Abstract Expressionists Pat Passlof and Elaine de Kooning.
For the last eight years, the museum has been putting together a collection of contemporary art and supporting local and regional artists through
