You can
use regular oats for a quicker version but I wanted to use quick rolled oats this time for a different texture.
Maybe I'll do it next time instead
of regular oats and let you know how it goes.
I replaced the butter for organic coconut oil, whole wheat pastry flour for the all - purpose flour, and
regular oats for quick oats.
Its sold in most grocery stores, but if you cant find it, grind
regular oats in a food processor.
They are also not steamed
like regular oats before they are sliced and rolled to flatten.

think regular oats would work as well, I just need to test out the right ratio of water to oats.
I haven't
found regular oats to be too bad in the crockpot, but I do love steel cut as well.
I did use the instant oats the first time and the recipe was still great, but I will switch to
regular oats next time.
* You can buy oat flour or make it by
blending regular oats in the blender into a fine flour consistency.
With just a few ingredients that you probably have in your kitchen right now, you can
transform regular oats into a chocolate delight!
I'm fortunate that I have 4 or 5 groceries offering
bulk regular oats... haven't seen extra thick oats.
A combination of coconut and almond flour was used in place of plain all purpose flour and gluten free oats was used in place

I use porridge oats as they cook really quickly, you can use the same recipe
with regular oats but you'll need more liquid and they'll take longer to cook.
I made mine both vegan and gluten free, if you have no need to follow these diets then by all means

If you can't
get regular oats, the quick - cooking ones may work, but not sure if they would work the same.
But I still think
regular oats make for a more comforting dessert — so while the photo shows the steel cut version, I've provided my «usual» recipe which always draws raves.
* I used the oats from Love Grown Foods, but you can
substitute regular oats with some chia seeds (the chia seeds in the super oats absorb moisture, so I would say they are somewhat necessary for the recipe)

swap regular oats for zucchini oats (or «zoats» as they're called), you may never go back.
They taste nutty and flaky, plus they don't get mushy or pasty like

I have everything else on hand, but
only regular oats... and no way to get to the store until Tuesday.
Unfortunately in the USA oats are often processed in facilities with other grains or grown with other grains and so many oats are contaminated with gluten, enough that celiacs or anyone with severe gluten intolerance should
avoid regular oats and oatmeal.
Oats are naturally gluten - free, but if you have celiac disease, you'll need to buy gluten - free oats since cross contamination can occur in the processing
of regular oats.
These vegan white chocolate speculoos cookies are also gluten - free, but if you don't have gluten - sensitivity feel free to swap the buckwheat flour and gluten - free oats for plain wheat flour and
regular oats instead.
