relationships with reporters are valuable, but less so than before the shakeup — layoffs, downsizing, reorganizing means many
of the writers we counted on to get our
stories out are no longer working our
beat — or working in journalism at all.
And each time we do this, attacking the simple, natural diet from a new angle, we stray further from a healthy way
of eating, and the more we
beat ourselves up and create warped
stories about our
relationship with food.
While the film touches upon its various political and cultural issues (In addition to the give - and - take
relationships between reporters and politicians, there's a lot about the overt and subtle sexism that Kat receives as the first and, at the time, only woman serving a newspaper publisher), the film plays mostly and best as a race - against - the - clock thriller
of sorts, in which the obstacles are as imposing as the might
of the U.S. government and as low - key as deadlines or being
beaten to a
story by a rival paper.
Like the previous two episodes, Episode 3
of Guardians gains enough momentum with its most engaging
relationships and
story beats to carry itself forward.
This is the closest the movie gets to finding something deeper than simply going through the motions
of the
story, although the
relationship that develops between Bob (and Kathy) and Roberto (and his wife) isn't convincing enough
of a conflict for it to really hit home (More intriguing is a moment
of solidarity between Bob and Kathy after a close call — an embrace that goes on for a
beat too long).
But it was a
story about them and their off -
beat relationship, and one
of the many adventures they've had together, and it took me completely by surprise.
Interwoven with this
story are Morden's memories
of his wife, Anna —
of their life together,
of her death — and the moments, both significant and mundane, that make up his life now: his
relationship with his grown daughter, Claire, desperate to pull him from his grief; and with the other boarders at the house where he is staying, where the past
beats inside him «like a second heart.»
Story beats aside, God
of War is a game about the
relationship between Kratos and his son Atreus.
