In a letter distributed to all divorce litigants, the Supervising Judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court Family Law Departments points out that mediation is cheaper, faster, less stressful, and less harmful to children and
relationships than going to court.
The results indicate that Indigenous subjects were less likely
to have attended a Family
Relationship Centre
than non-Indigenous subjects and they were more likely
to have attended a Legal Aid Conference as their primary attempt
to resolve the dispute prior
to going to court.
