On the other end of the scale, looking at the record of quality control problems in the construction and
operation of bulk nuclear plants, I think they're too
complex to be operated by the kind of people we have available in the quantities needed to build and operated them, when combined with the
relatively serious mess they make when somebody inevitably makes a mistake.
They took some «hot off the presses» satellite data from the SORCE mission (which has been in
operation since 2003) and ran it through a
relatively complex chemistry / radiation model.
