We're not in a rush to move in
right away since it will be easier to
remodel the master bathroom and re-stain the wood floors without our stuff in the
house, but I'm definitely feeling eager to get in there!
My
house is in a mess of

Paying extra on my mortgage over the last 16 years (with different properties) has enabled me to (1) refi
right before my ARM unlocked in the middle of the
housing meltdown, which saved me a lot of money in interest payments going forward, and (2) obtain a sizeable HELOC against my current
house, which will give me access to funds if I need them for my fourplex
remodel, but will only charge me interest if I need to use it.

A s we are considering what kind of
house we can afford (and hope to find) if or when we end up in Seattle, we are fairly certain that it will be a small
house, and possibly one we will need to
remodel at least a little bit in some way, hopefully
right away.
The kitchen was
remodeled back when the
house was first purchased so with the exception of a new fridge to match the appliances, not much needed to be done
right now.
Other than just not owning anything so there isn't much to do, or maybe buying a bigger
house, or one that is fully custom or
remodeled for you so you just walk
right in, set things down, and everything has the perfect home!
I've been known to kick into high gear on redecorating or
remodeling projects just weeks before holidays (or
right before I put a
house up for sale!).
But while there's always that moment when you can be tempted to fall in love with what you don't have (especially when it is all
remodeled, painted beautifully and professional staged and yours is still in its awkward not - staged or painted phase), looking at
houses also affirms that we made the
right choice for us.

I've handed off the kitchen
remodel issues to Stud for now and am working in Little B's bathroom which is
