removing dogs with the mutation from the breeding pool should effectively eliminate the mutation from a breed.
With the other genetic tests currently available for Australian Shepherds, most notably MDR1, CEA and PRA, the answer to the «what to do» question is straightforward: Having a single copy of the CEA - CH or prcd / PRA
mutations or even two of the MDR1 are not reasons to
remove a
dog from your breeding program.
