rendering at low resolution settings.
In addition, image quality is limited by a resolution of just 1280x720 with no anti-aliasing, while alpha effects were
rendered at a low resolution, textures suffered from in - surface colour banding, depth of field was mostly removed, shading was often inaccurate, and HUD elements were stretched.
Depth of field is
rendered at a lower resolution on PlayStation 2 similar to other alpha effects so perhaps, as a result of the original implementation, the effect simply didn't play well at 1280x720.

This method likely beats using the ADB «wm size» command, as that ADB command only adjusts the virtual resolution rather than actually having the display
render at a lower resolution.

render on the gamepad, so in effect WiiU is running higher
resolutions than the standard console setup is (and potentially even higher res than a standard PS4 / 720 setup) This is the first time Nintendo sold a system
at a loss off the bat, and if WiiUs price isn't
low enough for the markets, PS4 / 720 won't be remotely affordable for the masses.
This alone costs nearly 10 frames per second, and arguably reduces overall image quality because of their pixelated appearance (fine detail doesn't
render well
at distance
at a comparatively
low resolution like 1920x1080).
When there is less action on screen you are likely to have higher
resolutions, whereas moments with tons of elements being
rendered at once may see the
resolution lowered.
