Steps to becoming a Christian means that you must first be taught what sin is, so that you have knowledge of sin, so that you can
repent from sin, so that you can have a savior of your sin.
But only those who
repent from their sin and believe that Jesus Christ has atoned for it and freed them from it are His Body, the Church.
You are looking at the situation from our fallen perspective, not from God's perspective where our freewill is the same freewill that allows us to choose who on this earth to love (or not), and is the same freewill that seeks to
