Anna - I haven't tried those substitutions but oil should
replace the applesauce just fine.
I was able to

Applesauce: Truly smooth commercially made applesauce works best in this recipe (I use a no sugar added version from Trader Joe's), but in the past I've had success
replacing applesauce with mashed bananas, gram for gram, and vice versa.
My past experiments with banana flour and dates tend to turn out gummy, but you could give it a try
replacing the applesauce with date paste and leaving out the coconut sugar!
The only thing I did change was
