reporting that up and coming filmmaker Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs) has signed
on to direct «an untitled girl gang movie» for Warner Bros. and DC Films, which will be based upon the Birds of Prey
comic book series.
Once the
Comic Con in San Diego gets rolling this weekend, I'm guessing there will be at least a few big announcements to be made, but even before the Con actually starts we've already got a pretty huge one to
report: Sam Raimi has signed
on to direct a World of Warcraft movie.

comic book villain Black Mariah in the upcoming Luke Cage series

Writer - director Jim Strouse had cast Williams — known best for her clever

In the film by «X-Men: First Class» director Matthew Vaughn based
on a 2012
comic book, Firth plays savvy secret agent Harry Hart, who recruits an undisciplined street kid as his prodigy,
reported the New York Post.
Their are no movie trailers for movie yet, but, according to recent
reports, the movie will center
on the origins of the battle between Orcs and Humans, and a movie trailer maybe released in time for
Comic - Con in July.
Based
on comic book characters, the movie reunites Frank Moses (Bruce Willis), Marvin Boggs (John Malkovich) and Victoria Winters (Helen Mirren) after a WikiLeaks
report links them to a nuclear bomb hidden somewhere in Russia.
In what is beginning to look like the summer of the superhero film (remember, still to come are Green Lantern and Captain America: The First Avenger), it is with a big, stupid fanboy grin that I
report X-Men: First Class builds
on the momentum established by the season's first successful superhero, Thor, and delivers another solid, entertaining, and thoroughly satisfying
comic book movie.
According to Splash
Report, Netflix is in talks to develop a series based
on Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba's
comic book series about a group of dysfunctional superheroes uniting after a decade apart to save the world.
But now a new
report sheds some light
on how this version of the Clown Prince of Crime becomes the legendary villain we know and love — and it sounds like the film will be paying homage to one of the most famous Batman
comics of all.

Diamond Comics Distributors has released its annual 2012
report on the market leaders in the
comic book industry.
While sales of print
comics are well documented (by Diamond, the distributor to
comics shops, and BookScan, which
reports on bookstore sales), real numbers are much harder to come by in the digital realm, where everyone starts to get all vague and mumbly if you ask the question.
The new
comic book industry sales data is primarily due to the combined work of pop culture trade news website ICv2.com, headed by Milton Griepp, whose annual White Paper
on the
comics and graphic novels sales, is a standard
on sales
reporting in the
comics industry; and Comichron, a longtime repository of
comics sales data.
In other
comics news, «OverDrive is working
on distribution agreements with Kodansha, Shogakukan, and other Japanese Manga publishers,» according to an ALA Midwinter
report from GoodEReader.com.
Here is an example of combining the tools of Do Ink Green Screen, iMovie,
Comic Life 3 and Book Creator Apps to create a historical newspaper that includes
on - location video
reports.
Retailing Heidi MacDonald
reports on the retailer lunch at
Comic - Con International, where spirits were running high after an exceptionally good year, with sales up 13 percent over 2011.

Comics: Philosophy & Practice conference at the University of Chicago, which featured in - depth discussions of the medium by such
comics luminaries as Art Spiegelman, Robert Crumb and Alison Bechdel.
