In 2007, a landmark British study published in The Lancet medical journal found that
artificial food colors and preservatives increase hyperactivity in children, leading the European Union to
require warning labels on
foods containing any of six specific
food colors.
Those labels are
required to state that consuming
foods containing
artificial colors might be linked to behavioral issues in children.
