During the first 6 weeks of pregnancy, the energy
requirements of bitches do not change significantly, so that the feeding schedule used for normal adult maintenance (two meals a day at regular times) properly meets their needs.
However, during the latter stages of gestation (that is from the sixth month of gestation until the time of delivery) the energy
requirements of bitches begin to increase due to the rapid growth of fetuses.

A separate mention must be made
of pregnant and lactating
bitches, because
of their particular energy and nutrient
requirements.
This certificate shall be awarded to the dog or
bitch providing that its owner or one co-owner is a member
of OESCA at the time the last champion is finished to complete the R.O.M.
requirements.

The law also mandates special size
requirements for females with puppies: «Each
bitch with nursing puppies shall be provided with an additional amount

of floor space for each nursing puppy is less than 5 %
of the minimum
requirement for the

of the breed and the temperament
of the dam.
I. ACC Age
Requirements: A
bitch may not be bred prior to reaching eighteen (18) months
of age.

of inception
of this program the dog /
bitch had a CHIC number with passing results for CERF, OFA BAER, OFA Hips and OFA Patellas (in lieu
of meeting the additional
requirements which would have been imposed on that dog after its death).
Performance Registry
of Merit (PROM) and Performance Registry
of Merit Excellent (PROMX) are awarded to the dog /
bitch who is a Champion
of Record or has earned the VD Award, and meets specific
requirements.
