In the United States, there has been a controversy over the past decade
about locations of
infant sleep, pitting the
research and promoters of safe co-sleeping with a breastfeeding dyad and the
research and promoters of never allowing the breastfeeding baby into the parental bed.
The field of
infant sleep is changing very quickly and new
research is debunking much of what we knew
about infant sleep.
However, a
research team at Temple University Hospital (TUH) has now found that face - to - face postpartum education
about safe
infant sleep, combined with the distribution of a baby box, which is a cardboard bassinet, reduced the rates of bed - sharing during babies» first 8 days of life.
