I tried
resetting through the recovery menu and that did nothing I haven't
reset through the
pin hole yet cuss I don't have anything small enough to fit

You could have tried a factory
reset by either inserting the
pin into the
reset hole and sliding the on button, sliding the on button while holding down the light button (for ereaders that have a light burtton), or sliding the on button and holding the home button, depending on the kobo you purchased.
I have the Nextbook 3 — and pushing the
pin hole in back does not
reset the unit.
I could turn it on by
resetting, using the
pin hole, but that was a pain.

pin or a paper clip, you can stick it in the little
reset hole on the device.
You can
reset the feeding schedule, Wi - Fi connection settings and Date & Time settings by simply press a
pin into the
hole located on the back of the unit and hold down for 5 - 8 seconds to clear your settings and start over.
