scientists so you might
want to pay them some
respect and try to understand the knowledge that they are trying to convey to you.
If we
scientists want our community to have the
respect that it's due, we have to be open and honest.
It's the whole subject that is rotten to the core, and with all
respect to Judith Curry, the real
scientists don't
want to have anything to do with websites & politics, because all they
want to do is the science.
Their arguments are few: • I haven't seen real change in Iowa, just the usual variability (from an Iowa farmer) • there is disagreement among
respected scientists, so I can take whatever position I
want and run with it, loudly and forcefully (a popular argument in all discussions, although
scientists in the same position often become less assertive about their position).
Dismissing it as «nothing has changed» shows all too clearly that you
want climate
scientists to
respect you without doing them the basic courtesy of carefully reading their work.
