The best
result of the
new evaluation systems is that they put the measure
of a

of the conversation about improving student achievement.
What is so troubling is that Governor Malloy and Education Commissioner Pryor just staked their careers on tying Connecticut's Master Test to a
new teacher evaluation system that will depend on the
results of that test.
It was announced earlier this summer that 241
teachers were fired as a
result of the DC Public School's
new IMPACT
evaluation system.
But
teachers who took part in the focus groups also had concerns that a
new system would rely too heavily on standardized test
results, that
evaluations from time - crunched principals could be «phony,» and that a
new system would not account for students slipping in school because
of factors outside a school's control, such as a divorce or death in the family.
