I suggest you compile a list
of the top sites that appear in a both the regular and blog
search results for your most important
phrases.
You are not done researching a keyword
phrase unless you have analyzed the
search results page for that
phrase and you understand what kind
of competitors win... If you're targeting a
phrase and the
search results page for that
phrase includes videos then you should consider creating video.
For instance, a brand that only focuses on one primary keyword, with many variations
of subsequent long - tail keyword
phrases, will likely not be affected by this new way
of processing
search results.
Instead
of typing the entire
search phrase, users can also choose from a list
of search results Google Instant thinks the user is trying to type.

When you type in your
phrase and scroll to the bottom
of Google's
results, you'll notice some suggestions for
searches related to your original input.
As you type more letters
of the term you're
searching for, the
search results will update automatically until you either find what you're looking for or no
results can be found that match your term or
phrase.
There are potato chips with smoked flavors, like Smoked Ham and Smoked Cheddar, and
of course barbecue flavored potato chips, but a
search of Google for the
phrase «smoked potato chip» yielded no
results, and I got nothing from Yahoo, Lycos, or Dogpile either.
A couple
of weeks later, our main climate change page jumped from around position 220 in the
results for the
search phrase «global warming» to around position 75.
Even something as small as a unique turn
of phrase could show up in
search results and bring casual visitors to your page.
In the past, keyword stuffing and unnatural sounding exact match
phrases worked well to get pages surging to the top
of search engine
results.
Most people think
of SEO as something you do to your website pages so that they show up «high» in Google
search results when people
search for words and
phrases that describe your business.
Writing for both increases the chance
of making it to the first page
of a
search result; some
search engines would even analyze the text's «fowl play trick» score, like excessive use
of words /
phrases / tags that have high hit rates but are «off» in the context
of the website.
Weaving these and other similarly related
phrases into the titles, descriptions and body
of your promotional blog posts, articles and other mediums, signals Google to consider your content as it looks for relevant pages to return for a query in the
search engine
results.
Let's use an example: If you type «Plants and Flowers» into the «Google
search box» a stack
of search results will be displayed relating to that
phrase.
When someone types words or
phrases into the «Google
search box», a stack
of search results displaying articles, blogs and pages are displayed relating to the topic being
searched for.
The top title has 203 hits, so if I click «view 203
results» I can then take a close look at every occurrence
of my
search phrase in the highest ranked title.
There I
searched for the
phrase «BeagleBone» in a technology book and each
of the
results has a score associated with them; the
results with higher scores offer more in - depth coverage
of the topic.
So if the
search phrase happens to be in a book's title, description, etc., that title is likely to float to the top
of the
results.
As it happens, you can «buy» a query like do it yourself publishing in the sense that you can purchase adspace on the
results of searches done on this exact
phrase.
There are thousands
of results for a
search phrase «Kobo case.»
One obvious way to reduce the incidence
of bad
results would be for the iTunes
search engine to allow users to
search on an exact
phrase by enclosing it in quotes, as Google does, but that doesn't seem to be the case (at least, I got the same funny
results when I put «Fairy Tail» in quotes).
Typing the
phrase debt consolidation into a
search engine can turn up thousands
of results, including pages designed by scammers to look just like those
of legitimate credit counseling agencies.
How can it not, what with a cursory Google
search of the
search phrase, «Bali sucks,»
resulting in three articles from travel bloggers I respect essentially telling the world: don't go there?

searches for provocative
phrases such as «Muslim Rage,» which
resulted in images
of masked terrorists, the Queen
of England, Abu Ghraib torture images, and — perhaps even more disturbing than the original torture images — spoofs and memes
