The unique control mechanic, the lovey
retro aesthetic (standard
stuff for BinarySquare), and the lavish, pixellated visual effects that fill the screen during combo eliminations and the like make Puzzle Bebop a
game well worth a look.
The art direction is amazing, especially if you love the
retro asthetic and the controls are tight and responsive (especially if you have a pro controller), there is a bit of a story in there to follow, tons of
stuff to find hidden throughout the
game and several interesting options to play with and I'm only taking about the shovel Knight Portion of the
game.
As much as I appreciate the direction of The Curious Expedition, an exploration
game with an 8 - bit
retro look and procedurally generated maps, it feels like a mish - mash of
stuff that landed where it was thrown.
And for those whining on the price and
stuff, even stating if its a 15 year old
game, well, yeah, anyways, I'm more of a
retro guy, so I don't mind it at all.
Our own people have already built some pretty complex
stuff, like
retro arcade
games or huge Rube Goldberg machines, and we've developed even more logic toys since then.
I've been a little burned out by... well, getting burned by a lot of broken and incomplete
games, so I've been
retro gaming and playing
stuff on the Wii / Wii - U a bit.
And with
Retro Game Bros I was trading in
games and not handing over cash which really does feel better when you've got
stuff to unload.
