In contrast, decisions of legislatures and executive officials can be
reversed by majority vote — a much easier process, notwithstanding inertia and entrenched political interests.
The
vote to approve them is not scheduled until Autumn 2018
by which time
by election
reverses may have reduced the Tory
majority to half its present size.
On a uniform swing this level of support would still leave the Conservatives 9 seats short of an overall
majority, though in practice it is likely that such a
reverse in the positions of the parties would be accompanied
by changes in the pattern of tactical
voting, meaning that the Conservatives might well get an overall
majority.
