She pointed out that the California
Teachers Association has racked up three wins since spring, with the appellate court's unanimous ruling to overturn Vergara, the Supreme Court's decision this week to decline to
review the case and the thwarting of her own bill that would have made changes to
teacher tenure and
dismissal procedures.
A presentation was given on how Montgomery County Public Schools (in Maryland, nearly 149,000 students in 2012 - 13) had a peer
review system that actually recommended the
dismissal of
teachers.

dismissal); the various tools that might be used to gather evidence of
teacher effectiveness; and the various stakeholders who might play a role in a
teacher assessment system.
This resource document is particularly designed for use by NEA state and local affiliates to help members understand
teacher evaluation, as well as peer assistance, peer assistance and
review, and fair
dismissal.
