reviewing an Alienware 15 Laptop and he thought the best way to test it was by throwing one of the worst, most poorly optimizes PC Ports ever at it.
Without further ado, then, here is my attempt at not looking like a complete tit while
reviewing Alienware's latest iteration of their X51, having spent two weeks with it as my main computer.
It's time to
review another Alienware machine.
Not exact matches
While the
Alienware m9700 we
reviewed earlier this year was more powerful, it was also much heavier to lug around.
The
Alienware Steam Machine was sent to us for
review purposes.
You'll have to wait for the
review to learn whether we think the
Alienware Steam Machine lives up to the hype, but in the meantime — to simultaneously sate and whet your appetite — we've put together this unboxing guide.
Finally I've got
Alienware's X51 in for
review as well which marks my first attempting at
reviewing an entire desktop computer.
I never thought I'd get to take a shot at
reviewing an entire computer, let alone a rather expensive one from
Alienware.
Where
Alienware's keyboard has an advantage is that you can pick one up off of Amazon for about # 80 at the time of writing, a fairly reasonable price for a full - sized mechanical keyboard with a brand name, although that does put in direct competition with the likes of Corsair's Strafe boards which have a heap of great
reviews.

Alienware Steam Machine and Steam Controller has been provided to me as a
review unit by the manufacturer.
This demolishes the last HP Pavilion HPE h9 we
reviewed (it scored 3,764) and also takes the
Alienware X51 to the cleaners (it scored 3,368).
The simplicity and ease - of - use found here stands in contrast with other small systems we've
reviewed such as the confusing HP Phoenix HPE h9 and the restrictive
Alienware X51.
The
Alienware 15 R3 has a few different display options available, but our
review unit featured a 1080p display with a 120Hz refresh rate and G - Sync support panel.

Alienware's general manager Frank Azor said: «Lifecycle wise, consoles update every five, six, seven years, we will be updating our Steam Machines every year.
Our
review unit also includes an
Alienware Graphics Amplifier, a separate unit that houses a full - length desktop graphics card, in this case an Nvidia GTX 980.
Most
Alienware 13 laptops leave the factory with a 1080p display, but our
review unit came with a 1440p OLED touchscreen.
Both numbers are behind the
Alienware M17x we
reviewed earlier this year.
Unlike many of the gaming desktops we've
reviewed, our
Alienware X51 shipped with its own mouse and keyboard.
Alienware includes an Nvidia GTX 960 with 2 GB of memory in our
review unit.
Our
review system, like most configurations of the
Alienware 17, arrived with an Intel Core i7 - 4710MQ processor.
As you can see, the
Alienware 17 loses this competition, coming in behind all three competitors that we recently
reviewed.
