But the
film, which tells the story
of how mystery man Tommy Wiseau made what's often been called the worst movie
of all time, The Room, has earned mostly positive
reviews and was
nominated for two Golden Globes, including Best Picture (Comedy or Musical.)

Mexico's official entry is not only one
of the best
reviewed films of the year, but it's also doing very well at the box office (about $ 22 million at press time) and has garnered an astonishing six
nominates (tied with «The Queen,»
of all
films, with the third most).
While Foxtrot did earn the distinction
of being named The National Board
of Review's best foreign
film of the year, it was unfortunately not chosen as one
of the Oscar
nominated five.

Nominated for two Oscars (original screenplay and the since - retired best adapted score), the
film celebrates the 50th anniversary
of its original theatrical release this summer with admission into The Criterion Collection, who assign it spine # 711 in a single - disc DVD and the one - Blu - ray, two - DVD Dual - Format Edition
reviewed here.
It did make the National Board
of Review's top ten — and will likely make the AFI's top ten, as well — but even if Martin Scorsese is
nominated for Best Director by the DGA and Oscar, that doesn't guarantee under the current system the
film is in for Best Picture.
